Sunday School
Starting at 10:20 am, FUMC offers an array of Sunday school classes for every individual. You should find the perfect fit for your spiritual needs.
Nursery:
Located just around the corner, at the West entrance, the Nursery is staffed each week, from 8:45 am until the end of the second worship service. Bible stories and videos for infants through 2 years old offer an introduction to God's Love. Marty Nolte is the coordinator for the Nursery.
Children's Classes:
Beginners: Three (3) year olds meet in room 201 and get to know God's Love with Bible stories and verses, music and crafts. This class is led by Marty Nolte and Shannon Williams.
Pre-Kindergarten - 4th Grade: Children meet friends and get acquainted with new ones in our Rotational Sunday School program. This program allows the children to explore the bible through crafts, drama, games and a science/food center. The children meet in room 301 for an opening of music and a bible story. They are then divided into three groups, pre-kindergarten & kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grades and finally 3rd & 4th grades. Here, they go into a center, rooms 300, 301, 302 or 303, to learn about God and the transforming love of Jesus Christ. This program is designed to reinforce the lessons over a 4 -5 week period. Coordinator of this program is Wendy Miller.
Grades 5 & 6: Bible stories and games help this class, in room 307, learn how much God loves them and to develop a lifelong faith. This class is led by Tammy Owens and Heidi Komorech.
Youth Classes:
Mid-High: 7th & 8th grades meet in the North side of the East Fellowship Hall. Led by Michele Moon and Scot Calfee, this class discusses various topics, but also use games and music to further youth relationships with God.
Senior High: 9th through 12th grades meet in the South side of the East Fellowship Hall. Led by Vicki Brod and Shannon Nolte, this class allows the youth to choose their own topics each week. Feel like talking about prayer? You got it. Feel like talking about living a Christian life? You bet. Come on down and be a part of the discussion.
Adult Classes:
Adult Bible Study: This class is led by Bob Sawyer and Betty McNeill in room 203. They are getting ready to studying "Moments That Take Your Breath Away!" by James Moore.
Asbury: Using James Moore's book "When All Else Fails...Read The Instructions", this class talks about "Our instruction manual is available...the Bible...if we would only read it!" Led by Jo Rankin.
Christian Issues: A group of adults, of all ages, join together in room 208. They are currently studying Five Practices of a Fruitful Congregation by Bishop Robert Schnase. "An outstanding and inspiring look at the practices of discipleship...hospitality, worship, faith, mission and generosity". Leaders: David & Jan McLaughlin
Emmaus: This group meets in room 205. They are studying the book "At the End of the Day, How will you be remembered?" by James W. Moore. The lessons ask "Just how will you be remembered? Will you be remembered as the one who knew: Christ's healing love? the joy of the journey? the Gift of the Holy Spirit? how to trust the right things?, etc."
Men's Study: Meet in the library.
Stages: This adult bible study addresses marriage & family issues. They are currently studying Parenting: The Early Years. Now, this goes deeper than any technique of just getting kids to eat their broccoli and clean their room. It takes a Biblical approach into the traits parents want their children to have and what traits they want their children to see modeled in them. You don't need to be part of a "couple" to join in the Stages Class. Come join us in the Parlor.
