First Things First - FUMC

Bible Studies

Sundays @ 10:20 am

Stages: This adult bible study addresses marriage & family issues.  They are currently studying: Parenting: The Early Years.  Now, this goes deeper than any technique of just getting kids to eat their broccoli and clean their room. It takes a Biblical approach into the traits parents want their children to have and what traits they want their children to see modeled in them. You don't need to be part of a "couple" to join in the Stages Class.   Come join us in the Parlor.

Adult Bible Study, Room 203  The text used in this class is Moments That Take Your Breath Away by James W. Moore.
As the saying goes, “It’s not the number of breaths we take, it is the number of moments that take our breath away.” Every now and then, and more often than we realize, God breaks into the routine and gives us one of those awesome moments, so powerful, so amazing, so beautiful that time seems to stand still.

How long has it been since you had one of those moments? I have had many moments like that. Some were quite dramatic, some were quite memorable, and some were just too beautiful for words. Do you remember the first time you saw the ocean, or a majestic mountain range, or a breathtaking sunset with colors so amazing that you find yourself thinking, Only God could do that!

As we explore in this book some of the many different kinds of moments that take your breath away, it is my hope and prayer that we will all become more aware of and receptive to the myriad breathtaking moments that God has in store for us.—James W. Moore, adapted from the introduction

The class includes scriptures, weekly lessons, class discussions, and reflections by class members.

How to stop doubting yourself and live in the security of God’s Promises.
Why do we look to things of this world to give us security, self confidence, and fulfillment? Are we hearing the world’s message that only “things” can satisfy us and make us worthy??
If you’re ever asked yourself why can’t I be happy with what I’ve got.   If you’ve said or thought - when such and such happens – then life will be good…Maybe this is the study for you.
New class begins on 9/15 or 9/22 (depending on those joining and book availability) Book cost is $11 – 12, please call Kathi Ridenour 582-8773 or the church office to order your book no later than 9/18.
