First Things First - FUMC
Esther Circle’s Mission is to Spread Sympathy, Well Wishes and Cheer!

Have you ever needed a card to send to someone, only to be frustrated when you couldn’t find a uniquely perfect one? Taking used cards from all occasions, the women of Esther Circle put their talents to work; cutting them apart with fancy scissors, combining ideas and colors and gluing them onto new card stock. After selecting matching envelopes they are offered to our congregation for a suggested minimal donation.
They have found it to be a very rewarding undertaking. Those working on the cards enjoy the fellowship and special joy of creating something useful from things normally thrown away or stored for years. Though their group is small, they have spread their “mission” over a wide area.
Using the money donated by those buying cards, they have helped several projects:
·         Donated to a scout working on his Eagle Award
·         Helped purchase a blood pressure machine and cuff
·         Purchased a food cart and large roaster for the church kitchen
·         Helped a teacher in Houston, TX after Hurricane Katrina, to purchase much needed school supplies
·         And the list goes on….
To date, they have raised over $1000 in donations. There is no way to put a price on the pride and joy they have making cards or the fun while enjoying each other’s fellowship.
“Recycling is just one more way to serve fellow man while preserving God’s Beautiful World”, says Beverly Garrett.
So, next time you need a card, please check out the card display outside of the pastor’s office. You might find just what you need.
