“FRIENDS CARING”
Maybe you have been hearing something about “Friends Caring”? Wondering just what that is all about? What’s it for? Who can be a part?
Many people find themselves having to make decisions alone, facing tasks that they know little about, or just searching for different interests and outlets. A variety of circumstances can put someone in that situation…a death of a spouse….a separation….a divorce….or just by choice…there are many reasons. But friends caring about each other, keeping in contact, and doing things together can help make those times easier.
Sometimes it is difficult to shop alone, go for a doctor visit by yourself, eat alone in a restaurant, or just cope with daily chores. It is comforting to know that others share those same challenges. Friends keeping in touch make tough times easier. That’s what friends are for!
The door is always open at the Wesley Center, 514 West Fourth St. on the second Thursday afternoon of each month at 4 pm for a time of sharing, scripture and encouragement with Rev. Marjean Ehlers. Anyone is welcome.
Afterwards a fun time of fellowship might be eating supper at a local restaurant or in someone’s home. August found them at Mozingo Lake around a campfire, having hot dogs and marshmallows. September they stopped by the Senior Center for the Potato Bar and then checking out the rock band on the square at Downtown Sounds! A highlight planned for December 8 is meeting for a “Christmas Soups” supper at the Nodaway County Health Department Meeting Room, lower Level, 2332 S. Main. Everyone is encouraged to bring a child’s book to donate to the Health Department. These will be given to children who come into the Center. A holiday “cookie exchange” is planned for anyone who wants to participate.
Want to know more…just ask Rev. Ehlers, Thelma Campbell, Sue Bennerotte, Della Jane Rhoades, or Liz Burnsides!
